Foreign man wanted after alleged assault on Thai woman on Phuket’s Bangla Road

A foreign man is wanted after allegedly assaulting a Thai woman on Bangla Road in Phuket on 18 July, after accusing her of stealing his Thai girlfriend’s handbag.

Footage shared by the victim’s friend reportedly shows the man, dressed in black, striking the woman in a black dress before throwing a glass of water at her. Another Thai woman who tried to intervene was pushed, according to the footage and the friend’s account. Bystanders then separated those involved.

The friend said the foreign man’s Thai girlfriend, who was present, accused the victim of taking her handbag despite knowing her. The friend added that CCTV footage later showed the victim did not take the bag and that a police complaint was filed.

The victim was photographed receiving treatment at hospital, although details of her injuries have not been released. The friend appealed for information about the suspect through the Facebook page เรื่องจริง ติดจอ, expressing concern that he could leave Thailand before the investigation is completed.

At the time of publication, Phuket police had not confirmed whether the suspect had been identified or provided an update on the investigation.
