Former police officer arrested in Bangkok over attempted murder case in Phuket
A former police sergeant was arrested in Bangkok on a Phuket court warrant over an alleged premeditated attempted murder linked to a 2025 assault on a woman in Phuket Town.
Police have arrested a former police officer in Bangkok on an attempted murder warrant issued in Phuket, according to the Crime Suppression Division.
The suspect, identified as 54-year-old Mr. Satit, whose surname was withheld, was apprehended in the parking lot of a residence in Lat Phrao. Police said the arrest was made under a warrant issued by the Phuket Provincial Court on April 9, 2026, on a charge of premeditated attempted murder.
Police said the case is linked to an attack on November 16, 2025, in Phuket Town, where a 45-year-old woman was ambushed and severely beaten by a group of men in the parking area of her residence. She suffered serious facial injuries and required extended hospital treatment.
Investigators later identified Satit as one of the suspects and tracked him to Bangkok, where police said he had been hiding.
According to the report, Satit previously served as a police sergeant but was dismissed from the force after prior criminal cases. The report said he was sentenced to 13 years in prison in a 2007 kidnapping case involving a wealthy American oil and gas businessman, and later sentenced to two years and eight months in a 2016 extortion case in Pathum Thani.
After serving those sentences, Satit moved to Phuket and worked in debt collection and as a nightclub security guard, the report said. He allegedly told police that before the latest attack, a friend accused the victim of being involved with his girlfriend. Satit said he told the friend to "handle it," according to the report, but denied personally taking part in the assault. Police said he fled after charges were filed.
Authorities have transferred Satit to Phuket Provincial Police for legal proceedings.
