Four tourists accused of leaving B8,000 restaurant bill unpaid in Patong

Patong police said four foreign tourists were taken for formal proceedings after allegedly refusing to pay a restaurant bill of B8,000 and leaving the premises in Patong.

Police told The Phuket Express that the incident occurred at a local restaurant and gained attention on social media on 19 August 2026. The complainant, a Thai woman working at the restaurant, reported that one male tourist from Saudi Arabia and three female tourists from Morocco had ordered food and drinks but refused to pay when presented with the bill.

According to police, the group walked away from the restaurant, prompting staff to seek assistance. Officers located the complainant and attempted to mediate between the parties, but the negotiations did not resolve the dispute. Police did not state what the disagreement concerned.

Both sides were then escorted to the investigating officer for formal proceedings under Thai law, police said.
