Irish man, 28, found dead in Choeng Thale lake

Police are investigating the death of a 28-year-old Irish man whose body was found floating in a lake at a residential project in Choeng Thale, Thalang district, Phuket.

Choeng Thale police said they were alerted at 11am on Friday and went to the scene with medical personnel, forensic specialists and rescue volunteers.

Officers were collecting evidence and questioning witnesses before determining the cause of death, according to police. The body was later sent for an autopsy at a hospital in the area.

The Irish embassy was informed and asked to notify the man’s family. His name has not been published pending notification of his relatives.

Authorities have not disclosed the name of the residential estate or the hospital. It was also unclear whether the man was living in Phuket as an expatriate or visiting as a tourist.
