Kamala OrBorTor apologises after national anthem broadcast disrupts residents

Kamala Subdistrict Administrative Organisation has apologised to residents after an early-morning broadcast of the national anthem caused a disturbance in the area.

In a public notice, the Kamala OrBorTor said an investigation found the incident was linked to recent adjustments made to the public address system by a contractor. According to the notice, the contractor had been working on the system’s automatic on-off functions and is now making further improvements to prevent a repeat.

The organisation said, “The Kamala Subdistrict Administrative Organisation sincerely apologises for any inconvenience caused and thanks everyone who reported the incident and provided cooperation.”

Kamala OrBorTor later confirmed that the public address system was tested again, resulting in the national anthem being broadcast at 10am and 11am while technicians investigated and repaired the fault. Officials said the tests were necessary after the early-morning malfunction and that the contractor had been contacted to carry out repairs.

The incident prompted widespread discussion online, with residents expressing concern, humour and understanding. Some said they were startled awake by the unexpected broadcast, while others joked about standing to attention or initially thinking the sound had a supernatural cause.

One resident said the timing caused added concern because it overlapped with standard tsunami alert tests, leading some people to think it was a warning signal. Other commenters called for the problem to be fixed quickly, while many also expressed sympathy for officials and contractors involved.

Kamala OrBorTor reiterated its apology and said steps are being taken to ensure the public address system operates normally in future.
