Man arrested in Rawai with 541 meth pills and 3.29g of crystal meth
Chalong police arrested a 29-year-old man in Rawai after posing as GrabBike riders, seizing methamphetamine, crystal meth, cash and a motorbike.
A 29-year-old man was arrested in Rawai on 9 September 2026 after Chalong police posed as GrabBike riders to intercept him, police said.
The operation, carried out at about 8pm following a tip-off about drug distribution, targeted the community’s narrow alleys, where police said suspected dealers could detect approaching officers. An officer posed as a driver and another as a passenger before revealing their identities at a rendezvous point. Police said the suspect tried to flee on foot but was quickly detained.
Police identified the man as Anuwat “Mai” Rattanaphan. Officers seized 541 ya bah pills, 3.29g of crystal methamphetamine and equipment allegedly used to package the drugs. They also seized a Yamaha Nmax motorbike with temporary red registration plates valued at about B98,000, a mobile phone allegedly used for drug-related communications and B12,210 in cash suspected to be proceeds from drug sales.
Police said Anuwat was charged with distributing Category 1 narcotics by possessing methamphetamine and crystal methamphetamine for sale, in an offence described as being committed for commercial purposes and contributing to the spread of drugs among the public. He and the seized items were handed over to investigators at Chalong Police Station. Further investigation will focus on identifying the suspected upstream drug network, police said.
