Man dies after knife attack at Wichit rented room

A 33-year-old man died after being stabbed during an argument at a rented room in Wichit, Phuket, police said.

The incident took place at about 6.20pm on 7 September at a room in Soi Charoensap, off Pattana Thongthin Road. Officers found the suspect, identified as Chartchai Phanthasen, 34, from Sisaket province, at the scene with blood on his body. Police also seized a knife as evidence.

The injured man, identified as Polachet Dusdeethawatchian, 33, from Chai Nat province, was taken to Dibuk Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Police said Chartchai was arrested and charged with causing bodily harm resulting in death and illegally consuming methamphetamine, a Category 1 narcotic. During questioning, he reportedly confessed and told officers that the incident began with an argument involving insults and humiliation. He said he became angry before attacking Polachet with a knife.

Police are continuing to investigate and gather evidence before the case proceeds through the legal process.
