Man dies after stabbing in Wichit; suspect confesses

A 33-year-old man died after being stabbed during a dispute between friends in a rented room in Wichit, Phuket, police said.

Wichit police responded to reports of a stabbing at an apartment in Soi Charoen Sap on Monday, 7 September. Investigators found 34-year-old Chatchai, from Sisaket, inside the room with bloodstains on his body and seized a knife believed to have been used in the attack.

The victim, identified as 33-year-old Polchet, from Chainat, was taken to Dibuk Hospital but later died from his injuries. Police arranged a post-mortem examination in accordance with legal procedures.

Authorities charged Chatchai with causing grievous bodily harm resulting in death and the illegal use of a Category 1 narcotic, identified as methamphetamine.

Police said Chatchai admitted the attack during questioning and claimed it followed anger over insults and disparaging remarks by the victim. The investigation and legal proceedings are continuing.
