Patong police arrested a 49-year-old Myanmar man accused of stealing gold jewellery worth B1,150,000 from his former wife.
Patong police arrested a 49-year-old Myanmar man accused of stealing gold jewellery worth B1,150,000 from his former wife, according to police.
The case began at 9:40 a.m. on August 5, when a 46-year-old Myanmar woman reported that her former husband had entered her home and taken gold jewellery kept in a safe. The pair had separated about four years earlier, police told The Phuket Express. The suspect allegedly fled on a three-wheeled motorcycle.
Investigators used CCTV footage to trace the route and arrested the suspect at a market car park at about 12:30 p.m. Police seized the alleged stolen jewellery, a red Honda Wave motorcycle with a sidecar and other evidence.
The suspect was taken to Patong Police Station and faces a charge of “theft in a dwelling using a vehicle.”
