Myanmar worker killed in billhook attack at Thalang camp
A 41-year-old Myanmar worker was killed at a worker camp in Srisoonthorn after a dispute over noise, according to Thalang Police.
A 41-year-old Myanmar worker was killed in a billhook attack at a worker camp in Srisoonthorn, Thalang, on Saturday night, according to police.
Thalang Police were alerted at about 8:54pm and found Aqa Lin dead outside the workers’ accommodation belonging to Chokchai Concrete Co. Police said he had suffered three deep wounds to his neck.
A 35-year-old Myanmar worker, identified as Win Tun, was detained at the scene. Police seized a billhook believed to have been used in the attack.
According to the police investigation, Lin and friends regularly gathered outside Tun’s room, and the noise reportedly disturbed him. Police said Tun had been drinking with co-workers and arguing with his wife before he allegedly left the room, took the billhook and attacked Lin.
Police and a forensic doctor from Vachira Phuket Hospital examined the scene and body. Lin’s body was taken to the hospital for a detailed autopsy, while Tun remained in custody at Thalang Police Station as the investigation and legal proceedings continued.
