Phuket blood drive expands across May as Rh-negative shortage persists
The PRBC has reiterated a persistent shortage of Rh-negative blood, citing increased demand linked to tourist-related accidents and medical emergencies.
The Phuket Regional Blood Centre will run mobile blood donation drives across Phuket and nearby provinces throughout May after reiterating a persistent shortage of Rh-negative blood. Officials linked the demand to tourist-related accidents and medical emergencies, and urged all eligible donors to give whenever possible.
The month’s schedule opens today, May 2, from 11am to 3pm at Robinson Lifestyle Chalong. Other early drives include Lotus’s Shopping Centre on the bypass road on May 5 from 12pm to 6pm, The Nai Harn Phuket resort in Rawai and JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa in Mai Khao on May 6 from 1pm to 4pm, and Phuket International Airport on May 8 from 10am to 4pm, with a lunch break from 12pm to 1pm.
May schedule spans malls, hotels, offices and schools
Later Phuket dates include Botanica Luxury villas head office in Thalang on May 12 from 10am to 3pm, Patong Bay Hill on May 12 from 1pm to 6pm, Toyota Pearl Phuket in Koh Kaew on May 15 from 10am to 4pm, and Lotus’s Shopping Centre in Thalang and GO Wholesale Phuket Town branch on May 21, both from 12pm to 6pm.
The schedule continues with Makro Phuket’s Thalang and Wichit branches on May 26 from 1pm to 4pm, Jungceylon Shopping Center and Central Phuket Floresta on May 28 from 12pm to 6pm, and Kusoldham Phuket Foundation in Talat Nuea on May 31 from 10pm to 3pm.
Outside the island, the PRBC listed drives in Krabi and Phang Nga, including Nuea Khlong district office on May 7, Pullman Khao Lak Resort on May 11, Phang Nga Naval Base in Thai Mueang on May 20, and Ammartpanichnukul School in Krabi on May 29.
Fixed donation centers remain open throughout the month
Donors can also give directly at the Phuket Regional Blood Centre at 38/193 Rattanakosin 200 Pi Rd in Talad Neua, Phuket Town. The centre is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm, Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30am to 8pm, and Saturday, Sunday and public holidays from 9am to 3pm.
