Authorities in Phuket suspended eight cannabis-shop licences and revoked two in Patong’s Bangla Road area during an enforcement operation, according to The Phuket Express.
District officials, provincial public health officers and volunteer defence corps members inspected 11 licensed cannabis shops. Authorities said three establishments were cited for selling food without proper labelling under the Food Act of 1979.
One shop was found with hashish, which authorities described as a Category 5 narcotic under Thai law because its THC content exceeded 0.2 per cent.
Authorities said current cannabis policy limits use to medical purposes. Pending legislation would classify cannabis flowers as a controlled herb and prohibit online sales, promotional giveaways and recreational use. Smoking in public spaces remains prohibited.
