Phuket court issues warrant for Russian suspect in B600,000 mall theft
Wichit police say a 47-year-old Russian national, identified as Vitalii, is wanted over an alleged late-night theft at a Phuket shopping mall.
A Phuket court has issued an arrest warrant for a 47-year-old Russian national accused of stealing about B600,000 in foreign currency from a shopping mall in Phuket last week.
Wichit police identified the suspect as Vitalii. Investigators allege that he wore a false moustache, glasses and a cap to conceal his identity during the theft and used a vehicle to assist the crime and escape.
Pol Col Somsak Thongkliang, superintendent of Wichit Police Station, confirmed at 2:20 p.m. on 28 July that the Phuket Provincial Court had approved the warrant. The warrant was issued on 27 July on a charge of nighttime theft using a vehicle to aid the offence and evade capture.
Authorities said Vitalii has overstayed his visa since 2025 and is believed to remain somewhere in Thailand. Immigration and police units are coordinating efforts to locate him.
