Phuket customs officers seize drugs worth B25.15 million from courier parcels

Customs officers in Phuket seized 5.26kg of crystal methamphetamine and approximately 100,000 methamphetamine tablets during an inspection at a private courier company on 22 July 2026, according to The Phuket Express.

The Customs Department’s Regional Customs Office 5 used X-ray screening and random checks of suspicious parcels. Officers found the crystal methamphetamine, commonly known as ice, in transparent plastic bags and the tablets, known as yaba, inside a styrofoam icebox.

The combined street value of the drugs was estimated at B25.15 million.

The Customs Department coordinated with the Phuket Narcotics Suppression Unit and Division 2 of the Narcotics Suppression Bureau Region 4 to investigate the network behind the suspected smuggling attempt.

Authorities said the case involved the unauthorised trafficking of Category 1 narcotics with intent to sell, under Thailand’s Narcotics Code and Customs Act.
