Phuket governor reported attending ITOP forum in Jeju

Phuket Governor Chotinarin Kerdsom was reported attending the 27th Inter-Islands Tourism Policy (ITOP) Forum 2026 on Jeju Island, South Korea, where Phuket kindergarten pupils are preparing to perform Thailand’s traditional masked dance drama, Khon.

The National Broadcasting Services of Thailand and the Public Relations Department Region 5 office in Surat Thani reported on Wednesday (28 October 2026) that Kerdsom encouraged Kindergarten 3 pupils from Phuket City Municipality Kindergarten School ahead of their participation in the forum.

The performance is intended to showcase Thai arts and cultural heritage to an international audience.

The forum is being held from 28-30 October at Seolmundae Exhibition Hall in Jeju Stone Park. It is hosted by Jeju Special Self-Governing Province and organised by the Jeju Tourism Organization, which serves as the ITOP Secretariat.

This year’s theme, “Beyond Islands: Empowering the Innovative Future Through Tourism”, focuses on sustainable development, innovation and the role of island destinations in addressing global challenges, including climate change.
