Phuket installs 10 pumps ahead of weekend rain
Phuket has installed up to 10 large pumps in Muang district after heavy rain caused temporary flooding on roads across the province.
Phuket has installed up to 10 large pumps at locations across Muang district as the province prepares for possible further flooding over the weekend.
The Phuket Municipality Office said the industrial pumps were placed at 10 sites and could be operated around the clock to drain floodwater if required.
The preparations followed temporary flooding on roads in Muang, Thalang and Katu districts on Friday morning.
The Meteorological Department has warned of storms in parts of the eastern and Andaman regions from Sunday to Thursday. The department said the rain could develop when a front moving through northern Laos and Vietnam meets southwesterly winds.
