Phuket officials inspect two entertainment venues on consecutive nights
Officials found valid licences at two Phuket Town venues. Two preliminary positive drug-screening results were reported at Plern, while all 58 people tested at Ploenchit were negative.
Officials from the Mueang Phuket District Office inspected two entertainment venues in Phuket Town on consecutive nights, checking licences, weapons and possible drug offences.
At about 12.40am on 19 September, officials inspected Plern nightclub on Takua Pa Road. According to the official report, the venue had a valid operating licence and no weapons or weapons-related offences were found. Random drug screening of staff and patrons produced two preliminary positive results.
Officials said the results required confirmatory testing under standard procedures. The identities of those tested were not disclosed.
At about 12.30am on 20 September, officials conducted a separate inspection at the Ploenchit entertainment venue. It also had a valid operating licence, and officials reported finding no weapons or weapons-related offences. Drug tests were conducted on all staff and randomly selected patrons, with all 58 results negative.
The operations were carried out under the direction of Phuket Governor Chotinarin Koetsom, Deputy Governor Khetarat Chansin and Mueang Phuket District Chief Siwat Rawangkul, according to officials. They said the inspections formed part of continuing measures to regulate entertainment venues in Mueang Phuket District and prevent drug use, weapons offences and other illegal activities.
