Phuket officials tighten safety checks on Bangla Road in Patong

Phuket officials launched a coordinated safety operation in Patong on May 1, 2026, with inspections on Bangla Road and businesses along Rat-U-Thit 200 Year Road. The sweep, led by Deputy Governor Adul Chuthong with senior police, district administrators and local representatives, targeted two of the province’s busiest nightlife and tourism areas.

Authorities said the operation was intended to strengthen public safety and support Phuket’s standing as a world-class tourism destination. Adul said maintaining order in Patong is essential to sustaining tourist confidence and meeting international standards of safety and hospitality.

Checks target venue licenses, labor practices and narcotics enforcement

Inspection teams checked whether entertainment venues and restaurants were complying with licensing rules. They also examined labor practices involving foreign workers and enforced anti-narcotics measures during the operation.

Officials found several irregularities and seized documents and equipment for further investigation. People linked to the suspected violations were referred to police investigators for legal proceedings, officials said.

Beyond the enforcement drive, the province is pursuing longer-term management measures in Patong. Those plans include traffic regulation, sidewalk improvements, expanded CCTV coverage, multilingual signage and upgrades to public transport systems.
