Patong police arrested a 42-year-old Peruvian woman and a 41-year-old Spanish man on May 3 after a viral video showed them committing a public indecency offense on a moving tuktuk in Phuket. Police said the clip circulated widely on social media before officers tracked down the pair.
Route, penalties and immigration action
Police chief Suchart Chumphusaeng said the man and woman appeared to be husband and wife and seemed intoxicated during the incident.
The tuktuk was traveling from Bangla Road toward Kamala when the act took place, according to police.
Both were fined 5,000 baht each for public indecency, bringing the total penalties to 10,000 baht.
Police also contacted immigration authorities to seek visa revocation for both suspects and to have their names placed on a blacklist barring them from re-entering Thailand.
