UPDATE: Phuket police arrest four and seize nearly 5.7kg of crystal meth
Four suspects were arrested in Phuket on 30 August 2026, with police seizing about 5.68kg of crystal meth, ketamine and other evidence.
Phuket police arrested four suspects and seized about 5.68kg of crystal methamphetamine during an operation on 30 August 2026, according to police reports. The seizure also included ketamine and other evidence.
The operation involved Border Patrol Police Unit 425. The Phuket News reported that the unit worked with officers from the Narcotics Suppression Bureau, while The Phuket Express reported that it coordinated with the Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB). Khaosod English characterised the arrests as two linked drug cases.
The first arrests involved three suspects aged 19, 18 and 17, identified only as Mr A, Mr B and Mr C, at a room on Ranong Road in Talat Nuea. Police seized about 2.68kg of crystal meth, 131.9 grammes of ketamine, drug paraphernalia, a digital scale and four mobile phones.
The three were charged with jointly selling Category 1 narcotics, identified as methamphetamine, with intent to sell. Police said the alleged distribution was considered to have affected the public and national security. They also face charges involving the unauthorised possession of ketamine and illegal possession of methamphetamine.
In the second linked case, the investigation was expanded, leading to the arrest of a 25-year-old man identified as Mr M on a roadside in Soi Noppakun off Mae Luan Road. The operation continued in an alley beside a noodle shop on Satun Road, where officers seized about 3kg of crystal meth, 85 ketamine pods, a Honda PCX motorbike and a black iPhone 15 Pro Max. Khaosod English also reported that drug-laced vape pods were among the seized evidence.
Mr M was charged with unauthorised possession of Category 1 narcotics, with circumstances potentially leading to distribution, and unauthorised possession of ketamine. He also faces charges related to encouraging drug use among the public, illegal consumption of methamphetamine and driving while under its influence.
All four suspects and the seized evidence were handed over to investigators at Phuket City Police Station for further legal proceedings.
