Phuket Provincial Court opens B262 million courthouse in Talat Nuea
The new courthouse on Chao Fa Road has 14 courtrooms and will begin handling court services from 1 October.
The Phuket Provincial Court has opened a new B262 million courthouse in Talat Nuea, with court services scheduled to move to the building from 1 October 2026.
The building at 9/69 Chao Fa Road was completed on 11 May 2026 after construction began in May 2019. The court held an open house on 8 September, led by Chief Judge Thanayut Siwayapram.
The Judicial Administration Committee approved the relocation from the existing courthouse on Damrong Road in Talat Yai. The old building will later be renovated for use as the Phuket District Court.
Located near the Court of Appeals Region 8 and Phuket Provincial Hall, the new courthouse occupies 6 rai, 3 ngan and 20 square wah and contains 14 courtrooms. Chief Judge Thanayut said its layout was redesigned to accommodate the growing volume of cases, with additional space for courtrooms, mediation rooms and public services including case filing and bail applications.
The court has 24 judicial officer positions and 68 judicial officers, government employees and contract workers. Its operations are divided into nine sections covering case administration, public services, mediation and dispute resolution, information technology and other support functions.
The Phuket Provincial Court has jurisdiction over Mueang Phuket, Thalang and Kathu districts. It handles civil cases involving claims of more than B300,000, as well as cases in which the value of the claim cannot be calculated. In criminal cases, it handles offences carrying a maximum prison sentence of more than three years, a maximum fine of more than B60,000, or both.
The court is advising litigants and members of the public to use the new Chao Fa Road courthouse for court services from 1 October.
