Phuket to deport 2 foreigners over obscene act on tuk-tuk in Patong — confirmed details at this stage for Phuket readers.
Thai immigration authorities ordered the deportation of two foreign tourists in Phuket on May 6 after they admitted committing an obscene act on a tuk-tuk in Patong, officials said. The pair will also be proposed for blacklisting from re-entering Thailand after a video of the incident, filmed in a public area in Patong in the early hours of May 3, circulated on social media.

Police tracked down the two suspects at 8.30pm on May 4 through a joint investigation with Patong Police Station. Officials identified them as Ruben, 41, a Spanish national, and Cynthia, 43, a Peruvian national.
Charges filed after suspects identified from video
Investigators showed the pair images from the clip, and both admitted they were the people seen in the footage, officials said.
They were handed to investigators to face a charge of jointly committing an indecent act in public by exposing the body or engaging in another obscene act. The case proceeded under the legal process and the pair were fined.
Deputy government spokeswoman Ploytalai Laksamisangchan said Phuket immigration deemed the conduct contrary to public morality and Thai customs, and said it had seriously damaged the province’s tourism image.
She added that Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul had instructed agencies to strictly enforce the law against foreigners who behave inappropriately at tourist sites, with particular emphasis on conduct that violates Thai culture or involves drugs.
