Phuket waters forecast to see 2-metre seas amid Thailand rain warning
The Thai Meteorological Department expects southwesterly winds to push seas from Phuket northward to around 2 metres on 6 September, with higher waves during thunderstorms.
The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) has warned of unsettled weather across Thailand, with seas from Phuket northward expected to reach around 2 metres on 6 September and rise above 2 metres during thunderstorms.
The forecast covers the 24 hours from 6am on 6 September to 6am on 7 September. Southwesterly winds of 20 to 35 kilometres per hour are expected in the waters from Phuket northward. TMD advised vessels in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand to proceed with caution and avoid storm areas.
Thunderstorms are forecast across 40% of the southern region, mainly in Ranong, Phang Nga, Trang and Satun. Temperatures in the region are expected to range from 24 to 27 degrees Celsius overnight and from 31 to 34 degrees Celsius during the day.
The department also warned that heavy rain in parts of the country could trigger flash floods and runoff, particularly in low-lying areas, near waterways and on hillsides.
