Police detain naked foreign woman after disturbance near Surin Beach

Police detained a foreign woman near Surin Beach in Cherng Talay, Thalang district, on June 10 after she was seen naked, shouting and allegedly acting aggressively in public.

According to the report, the woman was filmed on Srisoonthorn Road near Surin Beach. The footage, shared on Facebook, showed her naked on the roadside before she later entered a nearby massage shop and caused a disturbance.

Massage shop staff and a foreign man nearby tried to cover her with a towel, but she removed it and continued behaving aggressively, alarming people in the area. The Facebook account that posted the clip alleged that she appeared to be travelling alone, looked intoxicated and caused disturbances at several shops near Surin Beach.

The same account also alleged that she grabbed someone by the neck, banged on cars and chased passers-by, prompting residents to call police.

Officers from Cherng Talay Police Station and other relevant officials responded to the report, brought the situation under control and detained the woman. DailyNews reported that she was taken to Cherng Talay Police Station to calm down.

Police are investigating the cause of her behaviour and considering action under relevant laws. Under Section 388 of Thailand’s Criminal Code, appearing naked or exposing the body in public in a manner deemed indecent can carry a fine of up to 5,000 baht.

If investigators confirm allegations that the woman assaulted others or damaged property, additional offences could also be considered. At the time of reporting, police had not announced whether charges would be filed.
