Police seek driver after Thalang traffic officer hit in Phuket

Police in Thalang are reviewing CCTV footage to identify a driver who struck a traffic officer and fled the scene on Thepkrasattri Road in Phuket.

The incident occurred at about 7.25am on 19 October 2026 on the outbound lanes between the Shell petrol station and Dohome store, according to a Thalang Police report.

Pol Sen Sgt Maj Woraphan Bantha, using the call sign Thalang 6110, was on duty and driving along the road to help manage traffic when his vehicle was hit from behind by a grey Toyota Corolla Cross, police said.

The officer suffered minor injuries. The Toyota driver did not stop to assist and left the scene, while a witness later provided police with the vehicle's Phuket registration plate number.

Thalang Police Chief Pol Col Nikorn Chuthong said on 20 October that the driver had not been caught. Investigation, patrol and traffic officers had been alerted as police worked to identify the driver and pursue legal action.

Pol Col Nikorn and the duty investigator visited the injured officer. Medical staff cleared him to return home.
