Runaway truck crashes into minibus and resort wall in Kata

A runaway six-wheeled truck crashed into a minibus and the wall of Chanalai Garden Resort in Kata, Phuket at 3:20pm on April 22, according to Karon Police. Police said the truck, registered in Bangkok and operated by Sermsuk Co, rolled backwards down an uphill slope on Kata Noi Rd before striking a Phuket-registered minibus and damaging resort property. Officers were alerted to the incident at about 3:30pm.
Police Response and Investigation
Duty investigator Pol. Lt. Col. Eaksak Khwanwan was notified by traffic police and attended the scene to inspect the crash. Officers documented the incident and recorded a formal complaint.
Police identified Chanon Tula as the truck driver at fault. The minibus involved was driven by Phutinan Boonrit. Karon Police stated that an investigation into the cause of the incident is ongoing.
It was not specified whether the truck failed to ascend the hill or suffered a brake malfunction after stopping. No information was released regarding injuries or the extent of damage to the vehicles or resort wall.
