Russian tourist injured in alleged road-rage assault on Phuket road

A Russian tourist was injured after a man from a pickup truck allegedly attacked him with an iron bar during a road-rage incident on Phuket’s Thep Krasattri Road, police said they were investigating.

The incident occurred at about 6.30pm on 26 October 2026, during heavy traffic in Thalang district, according to a report by Daily News. The tourist, whose name was not disclosed, was driving a silver Mercedes-Benz towards Niramit 1 Village in Si Sunthon when a white Isuzu D-Max pickup allegedly cut in front of him.

After the tourist sounded his horn, a man travelling in the pickup reportedly got out and repeatedly struck the driver’s side of the Mercedes-Benz with an iron bar. He then allegedly hit the tourist, causing injuries to his wrist, arm and leg, before fleeing.

A road user recorded the incident, and the video was later circulated on social media and provided to officers at Thalang Police Station as evidence.

Police said they had identified people connected with the incident and were questioning the injured tourist while examining his injuries and the damage to the car. Officers were working to locate the alleged attacker for legal proceedings.
