Thailand and China have pledged to step up joint action against transnational crime, focusing on cross-border scam networks, after high-level discussions in Bangkok on Friday. Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi agreed to integrate anti-scam efforts into a new Thailand–China Joint Action Plan, aiming to strengthen security cooperation and restore public confidence in both countries.
Details of the Joint Action Plan
The new action plan will align with national development strategies to deliver measurable results across multiple sectors, government spokesperson Ratchada Thanadirek said. Security cooperation forms a central pillar, with both sides targeting scam operations that have affected citizens in Thailand, China, and the wider region.
Officials said the plan is designed to produce concrete outcomes, with ongoing coordination between law enforcement agencies. The initiative also seeks to bolster public trust by demonstrating tangible progress in combating organized crime.
Broader Bilateral and Regional Cooperation
The meeting advanced Thailand-China relations to a deeper strategic partnership, with both countries pledging more practical collaboration in areas of mutual interest. Plans for upcoming high-level visits were discussed, including an invitation for Prime Minister Anutin to attend the APEC Leaders’ Meeting in China and a reciprocal visit by Chinese Premier Li Qiang to Thailand.
Both sides welcomed recent improvements in Thailand-Cambodia relations and agreed to enhance joint mechanisms for more sustainable outcomes. The talks reflect momentum in Thailand-China ties, which continue to expand in trade, security, and diplomatic coordination.
