Thailand anti-corruption committee targets nominee landholding in Phuket
More than 4,000 Phuket-registered entities have been identified as potentially involving foreign nominees, according to the House anti-corruption committee.
Thailand’s House committee on the prevention and suppression of corruption is pressing for action against foreign nominee arrangements allegedly used to hold land in Phuket, with more than 4,000 entities identified as potential risks.
A delegation led by Asapol Santriphop, chairman of the House Committee on the Prevention and Suppression of Corruption and a Bhumjaithai Party MP for Sisaket, visited the Land Department on 21 July 2026 to exchange information with department officials.
Asapol said the committee had discussed measures to prevent foreign nominee landholding, safeguards against corruption in land surveying and title-deed issuance, and the progress of the integrated One Map project.
Regarding Phuket, he said more than 4,000 entities had passed an initial screening as potentially involving foreign nominees. After in-depth checks, more than 300 were identified as presenting further risks and potentially requiring land revocation, while proceedings to revoke land had already been initiated in more than 30 cases, according to his account.
The Land Department was also coordinating with the Board of Investment to verify whether high-capital entities had received investment support lawfully. Asapol said cases found not to comply could face land revocation and legal proceedings.
The committee was also briefed on the Land Department’s ongoing digitalisation programme, which aims to allow people to submit applications and access services online without visiting land offices.
