Thailand to end walk-in business registration, shift fully online in July 2026 — confirmed details at this stage for Phuket readers.

Thailand to end walk-in business registration, shift fully online in July 2026

Thailand’s Department of Business Development said on May 19 it will end walk-in juristic entity registration from July 1, 2026, making its DBD Biz Regist platform the only channel for new partnership and limited company filings. The change will affect business operators nationwide, including in Phuket, as the Commerce Ministry pushes corporate registration fully into a digital system.

Director-general Poonpong Naiyanapakorn said the department handled 348,690 juristic registration requests in 2025. That total included 85,083 applications to set up partnerships and companies, 236,686 change-of-record filings, and 26,921 liquidation completions.

Online usage climbed sharply before the cutoff

The department said online adoption has accelerated over the past seven months as it worked to make digital processing as fast as paper-based submissions. In April 2026, 89.05% of all juristic registrations were filed online, up from 68.15% in September.

For new partnership and company registrations alone, online usage reached 94.59% in April 2026, compared with 76.95% in September. Officials said the increase showed stronger business confidence in the system’s speed, convenience, safety and efficiency.

DBD Biz Regist to become the only filing channel

The ministry said a single online channel should cut travel time and costs for applicants dealing with the department or provincial commerce offices. It also said reducing face-to-face contact may help limit opportunities for improper benefit demands and corruption.

Officials described DBD Biz Regist as a key tool for improving transparency and trust in the economy through electronic identity verification and linked government databases. The platform operates 24 hours a day with no holidays, allows users to submit applications, track status and receive electronic documents, and support is available through the Business Registration Office, Line Official Account @DBD1570 and Call Center 1570.
