Thalang police prepare for holiday traffic and road safety operation

Thalang police have mobilised traffic officers, emergency personnel and equipment ahead of increased travel by residents and tourists during a holiday period running from July 25 to 30.

The preparations were carried out on Saturday, July 25, under the direction of Thalang Police Superintendent Pol Col Nikorn Chuthong. Traffic police, patrol officers, firefighters from Srisoonthorn Municipality, Kusoldharm Phuket Foundation personnel and tow-truck teams from Thalang Police Station took part.

Pol Col Nikorn briefed the teams on procedures for coordinating traffic management, assisting accident victims and responding to roadside emergencies. The operation is intended to reduce road accidents, ease congestion and improve safety for people travelling in Phuket.

Authorities also cleared roadside drainage pipes to remove blockages and reduce the risk of water pooling during heavy rain.

The three official public holidays in the period are Tuesday, July 28, for His Majesty the King’s Birthday; Wednesday, July 29, for Asarnha Bucha Day; and Thursday, July 30, for Khao Phansa, or Buddhist Lent Day.

Alcohol sales will be prohibited nationwide on July 29 and 30. According to the report, exemptions apply to licensed entertainment venues, hotels and international airports.
