Thalang Police Step Up Fire Safety Inspections at Phuket Entertainment Venues

Thalang Police have intensified fire safety inspections at entertainment venues and similar establishments in Phuket, following a directive for provincewide checks after a deadly fire in Bangkok claimed multiple lives.

From 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Police Colonel Nikorn Chuthong, superintendent of Thalang Police Station, led a joint inspection operation involving district officials, local administrative representatives, public health officers, municipal inspectors and other agencies. The team visited four establishments in the Thalang area.

The inspections examined fire prevention measures, emergency preparedness and compliance with safety standards. Authorities reported that most venues had installed dry chemical fire extinguishers at high-risk points and maintained them regularly. Emergency exits and escape routes were unobstructed and functional, and lighting systems and fire exit signs were operating properly.

Officials stressed that venue operators must follow fire safety regulations, conduct regular fire drills, maintain electrical systems and ensure staff are prepared to manage emergency evacuations.

Colonel Nikorn said the inspections formed part of Thalang Police’s continuing effort to protect lives and property. He said police would continue working with relevant agencies to conduct regular checks, ensure venues meet safety standards and build confidence among residents and tourists.

Phuket Governor Chotinarin Kerdsom has directed sweeping safety inspections across the province’s entertainment venues, hotels and restaurants. As part of the coordinated campaign, officials in Wichit also carried out late-night inspections of four entertainment venues to reinforce compliance with fire safety and legal standards.
