A truck driver pulled a scythe during a road dispute on Phra Baramee Rd near Kalim Beach in Patong at about 11:50pm on April 27, according to video shared online from Phuket. The footage shows a water tanker truck cutting abruptly in front of a car as traffic was heading towards Kamala before the confrontation escalated.
The driver who posted the clip said the tanker had tried to leave a side road and merge into traffic. They said they could not slow down to let it in because another vehicle was following closely behind.
Video shows confrontation after close pursuit
The account accompanying the footage said the tanker then followed the car at close range until both vehicles stopped. The truck driver was then seen getting out carrying a scythe and approaching the car while threatening the occupants.
The car’s occupants reportedly included foreign passengers. No physical violence was reported, and the encounter did not escalate beyond the threat.
Social media reaction and company response
The driver who shared the video said they tried to contact the company operating the tanker truck after the incident. They said no response had been received by the afternoon of the following day.
The clip drew strong reaction on social media, where many users urged the victim to file a formal police complaint because the incident had been recorded clearly on video. Others called for a report to be made to transport authorities.
The page that reposted the footage warned road users that courtesy must not come ahead of traffic law and safety. It also called on the company involved to investigate the driver’s conduct and take action to prevent a repeat.
