Two arrested in Patong drug sting, meth and yaba seized

Patong police arrested two suspects on drug trafficking charges after a sting operation launched in response to community complaints about drug sales in the area.

Police said the first suspect, a 35-year-old woman identified only as Pa, was arrested in front of a hotel on Phra Metta Road. Officers seized five packets of crystal meth weighing 9.48 grams, 27 yaba tablets, a mobile phone and a motorcycle.

Further investigation led officers to a second suspect, a 38-year-old man identified only as Kit, who was arrested inside a hotel room in Patong. Police said they seized four packets of crystal meth weighing about 1 gram, 40 yaba tablets and two mobile phones.

Both suspects were charged with possession of Category 1 narcotics, including methamphetamine and yaba, with intent to sell, trafficking for commercial purposes, and illegal drug use. They were taken to Patong Police Station for legal proceedings.

Police said the arrests followed intelligence from local residents who reported suspicious drug activity. Undercover officers were used in the operation, which led to the arrests and the seizure of the drugs and other items.
