Two men found dead in separate Phuket incidents
A 43-year-old man was found dead at his home in Pa Khlok, while a 90-year-old British man was found dead in a Cherng Talay villa.
A 43-year-old man and a 90-year-old British man were found dead in separate incidents in Phuket on 16 and 17 August, with both deaths under investigation.
Thalang Police were notified at about 6.59pm on 17 August after the 43-year-old man’s wife returned home in Pa Khlok and found him lying motionless near the bathroom. The man was identified as Wiroj Yili, a freelance van driver from Phang Nga.
Police said there were no visible signs of injury or assault, forced entry or theft. The door was reportedly locked from inside. Wiroj’s wife told police that he regularly consumed kratom tea.
A doctor from Thalang Hospital was called to conduct an autopsy. Police said the exact cause of death had not been determined and that legal procedures were continuing.
In the separate case, Cherng Talay Police were notified at about 1.30pm on 16 August after a 90-year-old British man was found slumped in a chair inside Villa N at Layan Estate.
Police and doctors estimated that he had died four to six hours earlier. The initial assessment suggested that he may have died from asphyxiation caused by being in an improper position, but the exact cause remains under investigation.
Police contacted the British Embassy to arrange notification of the man’s relatives before his body is released for religious rites.
