Two women attempt suicide from Phuket sea bridges on successive days
One woman was brought to safety at Sarasin Bridge, while rescue teams continued searching for another who jumped from Thao Thep Krasattri Bridge.
Two women driving black Mercedes-Benz sedans attempted suicide from bridges over the sea in Phuket on successive days, with one woman brought to safety and the other still missing, according to a Bangkok Post report published on 30 July 2026.
Police were called to Sarasin Bridge on Wednesday evening after witnesses saw a woman behaving suspiciously beside her Phuket-registered Mercedes-Benz C220d. Officers calmed her and took her to a police station, where relatives were contacted to assist her.
A day earlier, another woman parked a black Mercedes-Benz C350e on the parallel Thao Thep Krasattri Bridge and jumped into the sea, the report said. Rescue teams were still searching for her.
The sedan, registered in Bangkok, was left with its engine running. A pair of slippers was found about five metres from the point where she reportedly jumped.
