Unidentified foreign man found dead in sea off Karon Beach

A foreign man was found dead in the sea off Karon Beach in Phuket on Friday, May 8, with police still unable to confirm his identity. The body was discovered about halfway along the beach at about 6:30pm, and Karon Police were notified at about 8:30pm after a report was relayed from the Chalong Police Station radio centre.
Police work to identify deceased man
Officers who reached the scene contacted hotel staff and showed them a photograph of the deceased after his body had been taken to Chalong Hospital. Police said no staff members were able to identify him.
Investigators said the man’s name and nationality remain unknown and are under investigation. The inquiry is being led by Pol Lt Col Narutphon Kaewlae, investigative supervisor at Karon Police Station.
Police documented the scene and coordinated with officers at Chalong Police Station to arrange a post-mortem examination in line with legal procedures.
Karon Police said officers are continuing to examine the area and gather information that may help identify the deceased.
