Virgin Atlantic to launch direct Heathrow–Phuket flights

Virgin Atlantic will launch three-times-weekly seasonal flights from London Heathrow to Phuket on 18 October 2026, introducing what the airline describes as the first non-stop service between the airport and the Thai island.

The route will be operated with a Boeing 787-9, configured with 31 Upper Class seats, 35 premium seats and 192 economy seats. Flights will leave Heathrow on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, with return services departing Phuket on Thursdays, Saturdays and Mondays.

Virgin Atlantic said its Phuket service would target demand for winter holidays. Virgin Atlantic Holidays package prices start at UKP999 per person, according to the airline’s announcement. The carrier also offers more than 20 accommodation options in Phuket and more than 80 across Thailand.

Norse Atlantic has separately confirmed direct flights from London Gatwick to Phuket three times a week from 4 December 2026. The airline’s return fares start at UKP326, according to TTR Weekly.

The new services will add direct UK–Phuket capacity as the island develops its role as a base for travel to destinations along Thailand’s Andaman coast. Virgin Atlantic said connections beyond Phuket would be supported through a partnership with Bangkok Airways, as well as land and sea transfers.
