Wichit police arrest 19-year-old suspect in attempted restaurant burglary

Wichit police arrested a 19-year-old man on April 29 in Phuket after tracking him down over an attempted burglary linked to a complaint filed on April 17. Police said the suspect is believed to have targeted shops and restaurants in the area before officers detained him for questioning.

The case stems from a break-in attempt at a restaurant near Muang Thong on Sakdidet Road in Wichit earlier this month. Investigators said the suspect was later identified as Mr. Manas, 19, from Chalong.

Security footage and owner response led to failed theft

Security camera footage showed a lone intruder entering the restaurant late at night and searching through property, police said.

The owner was alerted by the disturbance and came out to check, causing the suspect to flee without taking anything.

Police charged Mr. Manas with attempted theft using a vehicle at night after questioning.

Officers said the arrest came after a series of theft reports in the area, and investigators are continuing to examine whether he was connected to other incidents.
