Woman arrested in Patong in alleged horse account online fraud case
Woman arrested in Patong in alleged horse account online fraud case — confirmed details at this stage for Phuket readers.
Police arrested a 38-year-old woman in Patong on May 16 over alleged “horse account” fraud after tracing online scam payments to bank accounts in her name, officials said. The arrest in Phuket took place in the parking lot of a hotel on Thaweewong Road, where officers detained Ms. Kochamon under three separate court warrants linked to online fraud cases with combined losses of more than B100,000.
The warrants were issued by the Phuket Provincial Court, Chiang Mai Provincial Court and Thanyaburi Provincial Court. Authorities said the charges include supporting public fraud, entering false computer data likely to cause public harm, and opening or allowing others to use her bank account for criminal purposes.
Facebook shopping scams tied to multiple cases
Investigators said victims were lured by product advertisements on Facebook pages, then transferred money for orders that were never delivered.
Police said the payment trail led to accounts registered to Ms. Kochamon, which were allegedly used repeatedly by scammers to receive funds. That pattern formed the basis for the three warrants.
Officers moved after receiving intelligence that she would appear at the hotel, then identified her and presented the warrants before taking her into custody.
She was later transferred to Phuket City Police Station for legal proceedings. Ms. Kochamon denied the allegations and told police she had lent her bank account to a friend without knowing it would be used for fraud.
