Best Restaurants in Phuket in 2026: Cheap Eats, Local Thai Food and International Dining
A research-based guide to Phuket’s best restaurants, with current prices, practical details, exact Google Maps links and one or two dishes to order at every recommended place.
Phuket has excellent restaurants at every price level, but the island is too large and varied for one simple ranking. The best choice depends on where you are staying, how much you want to spend and whether you are looking for Phuket-style crab curry, local seafood, Italian pasta, vegan food, a late-night burger or a full tasting menu.
For this guide, we screened 650 restaurant listings across Phuket, filtered 194 valid candidates, deeply researched 122 restaurants and analysed 2,889 unique Google reviews in English, Thai, Russian and French. We then checked the most useful finalists again with current Google Places data, official menus, restaurant websites and menu photos.
Prices, opening hours, ratings and practical details were checked on July 25, 2026. They can change, so use the Google Maps link in each entry before making a special journey.

How we chose the restaurants
Google ratings were only one signal. We compared recent and relevant reviews, menu prices, restaurant identity, speciality, consistency, location, opening hours, reservations, payment options, parking, accessibility and suitability for children or groups.
A highly rated restaurant did not win automatically. Some tourist-area businesses have unusually large review volumes, while excellent local restaurants may have fewer online reviews. Category winners were selected because they fit a specific need and had enough supporting evidence.
The priceRange shown by Google is used as an estimate of typical spending. It is not treated as the price of a specific dish.

Pros: Strong regional cooking, moderate prices, outdoor seating, family and group friendly.

Tandoori Flames is the best straightforward Indian recommendation in Patong. Tambu is the Indian fine-dining alternative. For Turkish grills and meze, choose Cappadocia Chalong.
Japanese and Korean
TAKA offers the best balance of price and quality for Japanese food in Phuket Town. Bosu is the more premium Patong option. For Korean food, choose Bori in Phuket Town or Ceres in Chalong.
Vegan and vegetarian
SOUL Vegan is the strongest fully vegan choice. Ceres, Cappadocia, BOOST, Signature Noodles and several of the fine-dining restaurants also report vegetarian options, but “vegetarian available” does not necessarily mean a fully separate kitchen.
Best restaurants by area
Phuket Town
Phuket Town is the island’s strongest food destination for local cooking. Prioritise One Chun, Raya, Nam Yoi, Go Benz, La Gaetana, TAKA, Bori and Royd.
Rawai and Nai Harn
Choose BOOST for breakfast, GoZar for value and variety, Locanda Del Pescatore for Italian food and Samut for seafood fine dining.
Chalong
Choose Mor Mu Dong for local seafood, Kan Eang for a waterfront dinner, Bucha for families, Cappadocia for Turkish food and Niyom for salt-roasted duck.
Patong and Kalim
Choose Tandoori Flames for Indian food, Pizza Lab for pizza, No.6 for inexpensive Thai dishes, Bosu for Japanese food, Acqua for Italian fine dining and L’Arôme for a romantic tasting menu.
Bang Tao, Cherngtalay and Surin
Choose Bisou for French food, PRU or JAMPA for fine dining, and Signature Noodles for a meal at or below 170 THB.
Kata and Karon
Choose SOUL Vegan for plant-based food. Kata On Fire remains a useful broad-menu option, but confirm specific low-cost dishes because the typical Google price range is now 200–400 THB.
Kamala
Choose Time Bomb for late-night burgers and The Smokaccia Laboratory for an ambitious tasting menu. We did not find a sufficiently well-documented complete meal under 170 THB to name a reliable budget winner.
Nai Yang and Mai Khao
Heng Heng Heng is the strongest local candidate in the airport area, but older very-low prices should be checked against the current menu.
Cape Panwa
Sawasdee is a practical casual Thai option, but we did not confirm a complete current meal below 170 THB.
How much does eating out cost in Phuket?
These broad ranges are more useful than a single island-wide average:
| Type of meal | Typical budget per person |
|---|---|
| Local rice or noodle dish | 60–170 THB |
| Affordable Thai restaurant meal | 170–350 THB |
| Mid-range international meal | 350–900 THB |
| Premium restaurant | 900–2,000 THB |
| Fine-dining tasting menu | 2,000 THB and above |
Seafood sold by weight, imported ingredients, wine and tasting-menu supplements can increase the bill quickly.
What does “++” mean on Phuket restaurant menus?
A price written as 3,950 THB++ normally means that service charge and VAT are added to the displayed amount. Check the exact percentages on the menu or booking page before confirming an expensive reservation.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best restaurant in Phuket overall?
One Chun is the best overall recommendation because it combines regional identity, a central Old Town location, moderate pricing and two essential Phuket dishes: yellow crab curry and moo hong.
Where can I eat in Phuket for under US$5?
The strongest verified options are Go Benz in Phuket Town, Ka Moo Boran in Kathu, Signature Noodles in Bang Tao and the 160 THB crab-noodle dish at GoZar in Rawai. Some dishes at No.6, Mor Mu Dong and Kata On Fire may also fit the limit, but check current prices.
Which area has the best local restaurants?
Phuket Town has the strongest concentration of local institutions and regional specialities. Chalong is particularly good for seafood, while Rawai offers a mix of local food and international restaurants.
What local Phuket dishes should I try?
Start with:
- Mee hoon gaeng poo: yellow crab curry with rice vermicelli
- Moo hong: slowly braised Phuket-style pork belly
- Khao tom haeng: dry rice porridge with pork and peppery broth
- Hor mok talay: steamed spicy seafood and coconut curry custard
- Hokkien noodles: Phuket’s Chinese-influenced yellow noodle dish
- Southern sour curry: a hot, sour curry often made with fish or seafood
Do I need restaurant reservations in Phuket?
Reserve Bucha, La Gaetana, Bisou, PRU, L’Arôme, JAMPA, Royd, Samut, Acqua, Tambu and other tasting-menu restaurants. For casual local restaurants, reservations may not be necessary, but arriving outside peak dinner hours can reduce waiting time.
Are credit cards accepted?
Many mid-range and premium restaurants accept cards, but some local restaurants do not. One Chun reports debit-card and NFC acceptance but not credit cards. Go Benz reports neither credit nor debit acceptance. Always keep a backup payment method.
Are service charge and VAT included?
Not always. Premium and fine-dining restaurants may quote prices with ++, meaning extra service charge and VAT. Confirm the final price when booking.
What is the best restaurant for families?
Bucha is the clearest family recommendation because Google reports it as suitable for children and groups, with parking, reservations and generous shared dishes. One Chun, Mor Mu Dong, Kan Eang, Cappadocia and SOUL Vegan are also practical family choices.
What is the best late-night restaurant?
Time Bomb in Kamala is open until 3am and is the strongest late-night choice for burgers, wings and steaks. Go Benz serves until 1:30am, while Bisou and Tandoori Flames also stay open until 1am.
Final recommendations
For a first Phuket meal, book One Chun and order the crab curry with noodles plus moo hong.
For a cheaper local experience, go to Go Benz after 5pm. For seafood, choose Mor Mu Dong for rustic atmosphere or Kan Eang for a comfortable waterfront dinner. For international food, choose La Gaetana, Bisou, Tandoori Flames, TAKA or Cappadocia according to the cuisine you want.
For a special occasion, compare the current menus at PRU, L’Arôme by the Sea, JAMPA, Royd, Samut and The Smokaccia Laboratory before booking. Their dishes and prices change more frequently than those of casual restaurants.
