Cabinet approves B6.43 billion Andaman Health Center project for Phuket — confirmed details at this stage for Phuket readers.
Thailand’s Cabinet on April 28 approved the Andaman Health Center project at Prince of Songkla University with a total budget of B6,431.74 million, officials said. The four-year plan, running from fiscal 2027 to 2030, is intended to strengthen health services in Phuket and the wider Andaman region.
Deputy government spokeswoman Lalida Periswitthana said the project is aimed at easing shortages of medical and public health personnel. It also seeks to reduce referrals of complex cases to other provinces and expand treatment capacity in one of the country’s strategic regions.
Five-part plan centers on tertiary hospital
The project includes five main components: the Andaman College of Health, PSU Phuket Thai Traditional Medicine Hospital, PSU Phuket Medical Technology Service Center, PSU Phuket Digital Dental Center, and PSU Phuket Hospital.
PSU Phuket Hospital is planned as a tertiary specialist facility for complex diseases. Officials said it will support precision medicine, telemedicine and the training of health science personnel.
Construction of the hospital building is budgeted at B4,845.14 million. That total comprises B2,907.09 million from the state budget and B1,938.06 million from non-budget funding, along with medical equipment and other hospital assets.
The hospital is expected to open in 2030. Officials said the wider project is designed to position Phuket and the Andaman provinces as a regional health hub.
