Cabinet approves B6.43 billion Andaman Health Center project in Phuket — confirmed details at this stage for Phuket readers.
Thailand’s Cabinet on April 28 approved the Andaman Health Center project, a B6,431.74 million plan led by Prince of Songkla University to expand healthcare capacity in Phuket and the Andaman provinces. The four-year project will run from fiscal 2027 to 2030 and is intended to strengthen regional health services and position Phuket as a future health city.

Officials said the scheme is aimed at easing shortages of medical and public health personnel, reducing referrals of complex cases to other provinces, and improving care capacity in one of the country’s strategic regions.
Five-part plan includes tertiary hospital and training hubs
The project consists of five main components: the Andaman Health College, Songklanagarind Thai Traditional Medicine Hospital Phuket, Songklanagarind Medical Technology Service Center Phuket, Songklanagarind Digital Dental Center Phuket, and Songklanagarind Hospital Phuket.
The hospital is planned as a tertiary specialist facility supporting treatment for complex diseases, precision medicine, telemedicine, and health science workforce development.
Construction of Songklanagarind Hospital Phuket is budgeted at B4,845.14 million. That total includes B2,907.09 million in state funding and B1,938.06 million from non-budget sources.
The hospital project also covers medical equipment and instruments. Officials said the facility is expected to open in 2030.
