Eight-year-old girl killed in crash on Chalong construction detour

An eight-year-old girl was killed and her uncle injured when their motorcycle collided with a six-wheel truck on Chao Fah East Road in Chalong, Phuket, on 4 September 2026.

Chalong police received a report of the crash at about 5.10pm near a construction detour. Rescue workers from the Ruamjai Phuket Foundation attended the scene, where they found the truck parked by the roadside and a pink-and-black Honda Scoopy overturned nearby.

The girl, identified as Sirinya, was pronounced dead at the scene. Rescue workers took her body to Vachira Phuket Hospital for formal procedures. Her uncle, who was riding the motorcycle, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Chalong Hospital.

According to dashcam footage from passing vehicles, the motorcycle had been travelling alongside the truck before its rider attempted to change lanes at the construction site. The rider then lost balance and fell, after which the truck ran over the motorcycle before stopping.

Police said they were continuing to investigate the precise cause of the crash and would take legal action against those responsible.
