An elderly couple from Phuket died after their Toyota Fortuner crashed into an electric pole on Phetkasem Rd in front of Khlong Thom Ratsarangsarn School, Krabi, on April 23. Khlong Thom Police received notification at 2:15pm from Khlong Thom Hospital that both occupants had succumbed to severe injuries sustained in the accident.
Damage and Investigation
Police identified the deceased as Sripat Patkor, 75, who was driving, and his wife Ms Sookjai, 68. Thai news reports stated the couple was en route to Songkhla Nakarinwirot Hospital in Hat Yai at the time of the incident.
The collision broke a large electric pole at the school’s guard post, damaged a smaller pole, destroyed the guardhouse roof, and took out two CCTV cameras. The poles are managed by the Provincial Electricity Authority.
Rescue workers from Wat Khlong Thom found both individuals seriously injured and transported them to Khlong Thom Hospital, where they were later pronounced dead. Investigating officer Pol Lt Siam Suan-In documented the scene and began interviewing witnesses. Police have not confirmed the cause of the crash and continue their investigation.
