Foreign tourist rides electric suitcase along Patong road in heavy rain
A video showing a foreign tourist riding an electric suitcase on Na Nai Road in Patong at night has raised concerns about road safety in wet conditions.
A foreign tourist was filmed riding an electric suitcase along the middle of Na Nai Road in Patong, Phuket, at night during continuous rain on 31 July 2026, prompting concern from motorists about a possible collision.
The video was shared on Facebook by Apichat Phanchalad. According to the post, the person who recorded it was driving behind the tourist and became concerned because the wet road, reduced visibility and reflections could make it harder for following vehicles to see and avoid the suitcase.
The footage showed the tourist travelling without moving close to the edge of the road. The report said no clearly visible reflective equipment or rear light could be seen, while the rider was wearing light-coloured clothing. The following driver slowed down and took extra care.
After the video circulated, commenters questioned why police had not intervened and expressed concern about using an electric suitcase on a public road, particularly at night and in rainy conditions. Some called for relevant authorities to inspect the matter and provide guidance on the use of such vehicles.
