Four Phuket Town cannabis shops face licence revocation
Officials said four of six cannabis shops inspected in Phuket Town breached legal requirements and would have their licences revoked.
Four of six cannabis shops inspected in Phuket Town were found to have breached legal requirements and will have their licences revoked, officials said on 27 July 2026.
The inspection was led by Phuket Vice Governor Pol Lt Col Khetarat Chansilp, with officers from the Phuket Provincial Administration Office, Mueang Phuket District Office and other relevant agencies taking part.
The alleged breaches included operating without required permits, allowing cannabis to be smoked on the premises, advertising cannabis products in violation of regulations and failing to maintain mandatory records. Some shops also lacked Good Agricultural and Collection Practices (GACP) certification, officials said.
Inspectors further found that two shops had allegedly breached the Food Act by selling food products without the required labels. The offence carries a maximum fine of B30,000.
The other two shops inspected were found to be operating in compliance with the law.
Khetarat said Phuket Province would continue inspecting cannabis businesses, particularly in major tourist areas, to ensure operators comply with legal requirements. He said the inspections aimed to improve public safety, maintain order and strengthen confidence among residents and visitors while supporting the government’s campaign to regulate cannabis businesses and protect tourists.
