Man found dead in apparent suicide at Phuket care home
Police are investigating after a 57-year-old man was found dead in an apparent suicide at a care facility in Pa Khlok, Phuket, on Thursday morning.
A 57-year-old man was found dead in an apparent suicide at a care facility in Moo 2, Pa Khlok, on Thursday morning, and police said the investigation is continuing.
Officers were called to the facility at about 8:15am after receiving a report that a man had been found hanged in a bathroom. Patrol officers and an investigating officer from Thalang Police Station arrived and found the body of Narongchai Theppikul, a resident of Takua Thung District in neighbouring Phang Nga Province.
According to the police report, the case came to light after a relative, Sakarin Aksornsawat, received a message from Mr Narongchai’s wife at about 8:09am asking him to check on her husband because she had been unable to contact him for two days.
Mr Sakarin went to the room and found a handwritten note on a chair before entering the bathroom, where he discovered Mr Narongchai unresponsive, police said.
Police reported that Mr Narongchai had used a white nylon rope and was found in an upright position inside the bathroom. Investigators examined the scene and reported finding no signs of a struggle or physical assault, and no evidence that the room had been ransacked.
In the handwritten note, Mr Narongchai apologised to his mother and loved ones, saying he had made a difficult decision and asking people not to blame themselves for what had happened. The note also included a request for someone to care for his dog and a farewell message expressing gratitude and affection to a woman who had looked after them.
The investigating officer notified the duty coroner, who attended the scene before the body was taken for examination as part of the official process.
Thalang Police Superintendent Pol Col Nikorn Chuthong said the investigation is continuing in accordance with standard procedures.
