More than 200 officers joined a government operation at Phuket’s Nui Beach on 20 July 2026, with 11 structures illegally encroaching on the area dismantled, according to the Thai Government Public Relations Department.

Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Suchart Chomklin and Deputy Minister of Interior Worasit Liangprasit led the operation, which involved police, administrative officials and special task forces.

Chomklin reiterated the policy of Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul against encroachment on natural resources, saying it was intended to preserve the country’s forests for future generations.
