Phuket arrests tourist for graffiti
Phuket police arrested a Portuguese tourist over graffiti at an Islamic graveyard wall in Ao Makham, while seven French tourists were detained in Patong after Songkran water-play complaints.
What happened
Phuket police arrested a Portuguese tourist after graffiti was sprayed on a wall at an Islamic graveyard in Ao Makham, Muang district. Bangkok Post reported that Wichit police detained the 42-year-old man on April 14.
Police said officers seized dozens of used spray cans, a paint container and a roller during the case. The arrest followed complaints over damage at the religious site.
Separate Songkran case
In a separate incident, Patong police arrested seven French tourists on April 12 after complaints that they were splashing water, blocking traffic and disturbing others on Prachanukhro Road during Songkran activity.
The two cases add to enforcement pressure in Phuket during the holiday period, when police monitor crowded tourist areas, roads and public spaces for disorder and property damage.
