Phuket delegation promotes island’s MICE credentials at IMEX Frankfurt 2026
Phuket officials and tourism representatives attended IMEX Frankfurt 2026 to promote the island’s readiness for major MICE events and strengthen its global market profile.
A delegation led by Phuket Provincial Administration Organisation officials attended IMEX Frankfurt 2026 from May 19-21 to promote Phuket’s position in the global MICE market.
The Phuket delegation included PPAO Finance Division Director Malee Taweepongsak, Transportation Affairs Division Director Darunee Chansin, and PPAO councillors Aphinan Wongna and Setthasak Buason. They were joined by representatives of the Phuket Tourist Association and 11 Phuket tourism businesses.
According to organisers, the event, described as the world’s largest MICE trade exhibition, gave Phuket an opportunity to showcase its readiness to host large-scale international events. The PPAO said its participation was intended to reinforce Phuket’s brand as a destination with developed transport infrastructure, internationally recognised service standards and a commitment to sustainable tourism development.
Officials said Phuket has continued to grow as a MICE destination and is due to host three major international events next year: the Global Sustainable Tourism Council conference, InterPride 2026 and the Global Wellness Summit 2026.
The promotion effort was also aligned with Thailand’s new “MaxiMICE Thailand” branding initiative launched by the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau. The campaign is built around three pillars: convenience, focused on infrastructure readiness, transport connectivity and smart event solutions; experience, centred on culture, creativity and Thai hospitality; and impact, aimed at promoting Thailand as a sustainable destination that delivers positive outcomes for business, society and the environment.
Officials said the MICE sector remains a high-value tourism segment, with delegates typically spending significantly more than leisure travellers. The PPAO said taking part in IMEX Frankfurt would help raise Phuket’s profile in a competitive international market and support efforts to attract more meetings, incentive travel programmes and international conferences to the island in the coming years.
